1. Thursday nights continue at Costa Verde with Jeri, Emmanuel, Henry, Nila, Margie and the crew---beginner salsa classes from 7:30 to 9pm, intermediate classes from 8 to 9pm followed by dancing to nonstop salsa, merengue, cha cha cha and bachata---email me your favorite song and I will do my best to play it this Thursday evening. Only $10 for classes & dancing, $5 to just come out and dance on the beautiful hardwood floors, cozy and classy -- plenty of options for the drinker and non-drinker and authentic Peruvian food available upstairs---Costa Verde is located at 946 N. Jackson St., Arlington, VA--- free parking in front, next door at the SOWA even if it says they will tow you, don't worry, they won't, it's paid for. Parking is also available in front of the Jiffy Lube and all along N. Fairfax Drive. We are non-smoking on Thursdays so come on by and play with us! Fun and friendly atmosphere always!!!!! Directions to Costa Verde: Take 395 South or North to Washington Blvd. towards Clarendon, cross Wilson Blvd., make the next left onto Kirkwood which becomes N. Jackson St. as you cross N. Fairfax Drive. From 495 take 66 East Glebe Rd./N. Fairfax Drive, come all the way down and past GMU and make the right onto N. Jackson St. Metro stops are only two blocks away either direction from Clarendon Metro or from Virginia Square/GMU. 2. This Sunday, October 26th, Jeri's monthly potluck salsa party from 6 to 9pm at the Cherrydale Firehouse at 3900 Lee Hwy, Arlington, VA. Bring a dish to share, children are always welcome and are free! Come dance on the beautiful hardwood floors and enjoy the fun and friendly atmosphere---it's always interesting to see what everyone cooks and there are definitely some awesome cooks in the salsa scene....for those that don't cook, water is always popular! Cost is only $5. 3. This Sunday, October 26th, two workshops -- Listening and Hearing the Beat from 3 til 4:30pm and Ladies and Men's Styling with Leading and Following Tips from 4:30 to 6pm. Workshops are held at the Cherrydale Firehouse at 3900 Lee Hwy, Arlington, VA. Cost for each workshop is only $15 or $25 for both per person. Workshops apply to both beginner and intermediate dancers and include blindfolds! Afterwards, all those who attend the workshop are welcome to stay and practice what they have learned at the potluck at no additional cost:) Directions to Cherrydale Firehouse: Take 395 to Washington Blvd towards Clarendon, cross Wilson Blvd., keep going to Quincy, make the right onto Quincy to Lee Hwy, make a right, and the firestation is on your right, entrance is at that next light on Pollard St., down about 100 ft with the entrance on the left through the double glass doors and up the stairs. From 66 East, take the Spout Run Lee Hwy exit or from DC, make the left onto Lee Hwy and go 3 lights and at the 3rd light make the left onto Pollard St., From the GW Parkway to Spout Run exit, make a right onto Lee Hwy, go to the 4th light and make the left onto Pollard St. 4. Sunday, November 2nd-- New six week sessions of progressive salsa classes at the Cherrydale Firehouse---directions above. Beginner classes will meet from 3 til 4:30pm where you learn your basic steps & turns, cross bod leads and basic lead and follow technique. Intermediate classes will meet from 4:30 to 6pm where we work on double hand changes leading and following. Cost for all six weeks is only $80/pp or $150/couple. Classes will meet Nov. 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd (skip the 30th due to Thanksgiving Day Holiday), December 7th and 14th with our 10th Annual Holiday Party at the Cherrydale Firehouse! Joe Falero this Wednesday, Oct. 22nd at the Educational Organization for the United Latino Students Association at the Venezuelan Ambassador's Residence at 2443 Massachusetts Ave., NW, WDC from 6:30 to 9pm. Saturday nights at Kasbah continue every Saturday evening--Grace is holding a special dance shoe and clothing sale this Saturday, Oct. 25th --- see Saturday listing below. 8. Keith is holding a special Halloween Party at Clarendon Grill this Monday, October 27th, check it out! See Monday's club listing with DJ Bruno. Leon's Halloween Party, Friday, October 31st -- It’s a holiday about gathering together and having fun with each other in the goofiest way possible – Beauty and the Beast is our theme. I'll be a beastly beauty. Come dressed in costume, eat candy and other junk food, and dance like there is no tomorrow (salsa, cha cha, merengue, batacha, tango, and swing). Provided there is no rain, we will also dance outside – sooo bring a sweater and scarf if it’s chilly. Prizes for the best “home made costumes” (retail attire does not count). Bring something for the grill or something to drink. Party from 7:30 pm – midnight. Jeri's Review of the Week---My apologies to all but I have been really bogged down with schoolwork and traveled for my sister's wedding and played with my new nephew for a few days.....so I haven't had a chance to get everyone else's stuff out let alone my own....so please forgive me:) I hope everyone is adjusting to the new weather changes and I hope to see everyone this week at Costa Verde or at the firehouse on Sunday. It was wonderful to see some old faces these past few weeks too--Matt, Dina and Karen came by the firehouse with her adorable little boy--we had fun, he's definitely a future salserito!
